NPP/An Injectable Anabolic and Androgenic Steroid

NPP/An Injectable Anabolic and Androgenic Steroid

Introduction of NPP

Nandrolone Phenylpropionate (NPP) is an injectable anabolic/androgenic steroid. It is highly anabolic and mildly androgenic. Nandrolone Phenylpropionate, also known as Duolingo, is a white or milky white crystalline powder. It has a special odor and belongs to the anabolic hormone drugs. Protein synthesis is extremely strong, about 10 times that of testosterone propionate. It is commonly used in the treatment of chronic wasting diseases, before and after surgery, fractures that do not heal easily and osteoporosis, severe burns, and poor child development. This product can not only inhibit the decomposition of amino acids to generate urea, but also increase the ability of amino acids to synthesize protein. At the same time, it promotes the function of calcium accumulation in the body. Due to its less androgenic activity, although its assimilation effect is stronger and more durable than other testosterone derivatives, its male hormone effect is less.

Indications of Function

1. Hypoproteinemia: The first treatment is based on the primary disease. If the primary disease is not contraindicated, a high-protein, high-calorie diet can be given, and drugs that promote protein synthesis can be used as appropriate. Those with poor digestive function can be given liquid or semi-liquid food and supplemented with sufficient vitamins. In severe cases, plasma or albumin can be transfused.

2. Negative nitrogen balance: Taking this medicine can treat the significant consumption of subcutaneous fat and skeletal muscle caused by negative nitrogen balance, and improve the patient's increasing weight loss.

3. Malnutrition and stunted development of children. Patients are mostly due to gastric mucosal atrophy, resulting in decreased gastric acid secretion. As a result, the appetite is poor, and the body often feels weak, does not like to exercise, the physical strength is reduced, the response is gradually slowed down, and there are signs of anemia.

Clinical Application

Adult intramuscular injection 25mg/time, once every 1 to 2 weeks; children, 10mg each time; infants, 5mg each time.

1. This product should be kept away from light and airtight.

2. Use with caution in patients with poor liver and kidney function and congestive heart failure. If the phenomenon of virilization in women occurs while taking this drug, the drug should be discontinued immediately.

3. Serum cholesterol may increase during treatment, so it should be used with caution in patients with myocardial infarction or a history of coronary sclerosis.

4. Healthy children should not use it, because anabolic hormones can cause premature fusion of skeletal epiphysis, affect body height, and promote precocious puberty or female virilization.

Adverse Reactions

After use by women, it can have a slight virilizing effect. Such as acne, hirsutism, thickening of the voice, clitoral hypertrophy, amenorrhea or menstrual disorders and other reactions, should be discontinued immediately. Serum cholesterol may increase during treatment. Long-term use may cause jaundice and liver dysfunction, or water and sodium retention may cause edema. If jaundice is found, the drug should be discontinued immediately.

Drug Contraindications

Prostate cancer, male breast cancer, hypertensive patients and pregnant women are prohibited.

Medicine Interactions

When combined with dicoumarins or indandione derivatives, the anticoagulant activity is enhanced, and the dose should be reduced when combined. When combined with oral hypoglycemic drugs or insulin, the hypoglycemic effect is enhanced, and the doses of hypoglycemic drugs and insulin are adjusted if necessary. When combined with adrenal corticosteroids (especially mineralocorticoids), the incidence of edema and acne can be increased. Combined with hepatotoxic drugs, it can aggravate the damage to the liver.
